60010 Feeds Kids Packs 97,000 Meals to Feed the Hungry Across the World

More than 200 middle and high school students from Barrington came together this past weekend to pack 97,000 meals for people in need in more than 34 countries.

The annual meal-packing event, organized by @60010feedskids was held at the Campus Life Center and marks the culmination of a year’s worth of community fundraising.

The effort is made possible through a partnership with Kids Around the World, a nonprofit organization that provides the food, supplies, and logistical support to feed children and families in impoverished regions. While the exact destination of the meals remains unknown, they will be sent to one of the many countries the organization serves.

Funds for the event were raised through local donations, contributions from Barrington businesses, and a series of fundraisers, including events at Jewel-Osco and the Harvest Walk held at Citizens Park.

Organizers said they hope to continue the tradition for years to come.

“We’re committed to doing this as long as we can,” one volunteer said. “It’s an incredible way to end the school year—by helping others.”
