The Barrington Area Community Foundation’s 2025 Grant Cycle Opens Dec. 1; Local Charities Encouraged to Apply
The Barrington Area Community Foundation (BACF) hosted its annual grant workshop last week, sharing information about the 2025 grant cycle.
The application process opens Sunday, Dec. 1, and runs through Friday, Jan. 17, 2024.
Applications are open to 501(c)(3) charities that provide a “unique value and meet unmet needs in the Barrington area,” which includes the five Barrington villages, Tower Lakes, Deer Park, and the District 220 boundaries. BACF will also consider requests for unusual or unexpected capital improvements. Sustainability grants will also once again be offered this year to address financial needs for sustaining charitable programming in the Barrington area.
Sustainability grant applicants must demonstrate that they have:
Lost funding from their usual donation sources;
Been unable to conduct their usual fundraising events; or
Lost grant funding.
Applicants must explain how any of these circumstances have impacted current programming.
In 2025, BACF will award $431,000 in community grants, an increase from the $405,000 awarded in 2024. Over 35 charities received grant funding in 2024, examples including Advocate Good Shepherd’s Smart Farm, Barrington Area Volunteer Connection (BAVC), Barrington Area Conservation Trust, WINGS, Walk On Farm, and Boys & Girls Club of Dundee Township, to name a few.
The BACF grant committee, composed of local volunteers, will review applications and conduct interviews with applicants in February and March. Winners will be announced in April at an awards breakfast at Barrington’s White House.
