Deer Park Town Center Announces Bloom Campaign: Spring Celebration of Sustainability and Community Renewal

This spring, Deer Park Town Center is proud to announce BLOOM, an innovative month-long series of events dedicated to sustainability and community engagement. Set to run from March 17 until April 22, BLOOM will transform Deer Park Town Center into a vibrant hub of eco-friendly activities and events.

"From its environmentally conscious programs to its family-friendly events, BLOOM is a representation of Deer Park Town Center’s commitment to environmental care and community well-being," says Angelika Fejklowicz, marketing manager at Deer Park Town Center. "We're excited to offer a program where sustainability, creativity and community can flourish together during the spring season."

BLOOM aims to inspire and educate visitors on sustainable living practices while fostering a stronger sense of community and promoting fresh beginnings. BLOOM will feature a wide variety of fun activities for people of all ages, including:

Clothing, Textile & Shoe Collection – Monday, March 17 through Tuesday, April 22

Deer Park Town Center is partnering with the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County, Illinois (SWALCO) to collect new, gently used or unwanted/worn women's, men's and children's clothing and textiles. The program diverts items from landfills responsibly, assists the local community and supports the greater environment and planet beyond. All fabric types will be accepted, and items can be dropped off at the Center Management Office from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Guests can visit the program’s website for a list of acceptable and unacceptable items.

The center will also collect shoes for SWALCO’S Reuse-A-Shoe program.  All shoes will be accepted in any condition from new or gently used to worn, including those with stains or holes. However, rollerblades, ice skates, winter boots and shoes that are wet, moldy, falling apart or missing soles will not be accepted. Guests must tie pairs of shoes with laces or secure them with a rubber band or zip tie.

Document Shredding – Tuesday, March 18

The community is encouraged to bring sensitive documents on-site to the shredding truck from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Located in the parking lot near Noodles & Company, guests may bring up to five boxes (12-by-15-inch banker’s boxes) or grocery paper bags. Items must be loose; three-ring binders, pronged folders, rubber bands and metal clips are not allowed (paper clips and staples are acceptable). Magazines, newspapers, and other non-sensitive papers will not be accepted, plastic bags are prohibited, and car drop-off is not available. Businesses are not eligible to participate in this event.

In celebration of World Water Day, the first 200 guests to visit the Center Management Office will receive a free ‘Deer Park Town Center’ branded water bottle, while supplies last. Here’s how the community can participate:
