Home Team Collectables Opening in Barrington, Featuring Sports Cards and Memorabilia

November 12, 2024

Home Team Collectables will open in the Village of Barrington on Nov. 29, 2024, at 100 E. Station St. #155, the former location of Marvin’s Toy Store.

Founded by local Barrington residents Lupe Elguera and Nick Hollinger, the store will offer a variety of sports memorabilia and trading cards, including baseball, football, and basketball cards, autographed photos, mini helmets, jerseys, and Pokémon and Lorcan Disney cards. A portion of the store will be dedicated to a space where kids can hang out, play Pokémon games, and trade cards.

“I was huge into sports cards as a child and recently got back into it with my sons.” Hollinger said. “Right now, we like other sports fans have to drive all the way to Schaumburg to get items like this so we wanted to create a local spot where kids can get off their devices, meet others, and enjoy the hobby.”

The store will source items from a variety of wholesalers and distributors throughout the year, with a special focus on local athletes who have gone pro, including Scotty Miller and Lukas Van Ness, as well as memorabilia from Chicago sports teams and beyond.

🎉Grand Opening Event🎉

To celebrate its grand opening, Home Team Collectables will host a special event on Nov. 29 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The evening will feature a free autograph signing (with purchase) and a meet-and-greet with Gary Fencik, former Chicago Bears safety.

“We would love to see this become a hub for collectors and sports fans and offer a community-centered space for people of all ages to enjoy the world of collecting,” concluded Elguera.
