Long Grove Kicks off Vintage Holidays; Runs Through December 24
Historic downtown Long Grove kicked off its Vintage Holidays on Friday, November 22 where Village President Bill Jacob led the countdown for the annual Bridge Lighting Ceremony that illuminated the iconic Long Grove Covered Bridge, a landmark that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Attendees witnessed a surprise Flash mob in the streets, took pictures with Santa and strolled and shopped through town under the glow of festive lights.
Visitors can rediscover the timeless joy of the holidays all season long at the Vintage Holidays celebration, running now through December 24. With historic cobblestone streets, unique shops, and seasonal festivities for all ages, Vintage Holidays brings the enchantment of yesteryear to life in Illinois’ oldest historic district, established in the 1840s.

Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides:
Experience holiday magic the old-fashioned way with horse-drawn carriage rides every weekend from November 23 through December 22. Cozy up with family and friends as you glide through Long Grove’s picturesque streets, passing the historic covered bridge and charming storefronts draped in festive decor. Rides are $15 per seat (kids 5 and under ride free) and require pre-registration at longgrove.org/festival/holiday-season.
Roaming Holiday Carolers and Visits from Santa:
Feel the holiday spirit come alive with roaming carolers filling the village with classic holiday tunes each weekend in December. On select weekends, Santa himself will be making special appearances, bringing joy and photo opportunities for kids of all ages. On December 7 from 1 pm to 4 pm, Santa will be at Covered Bridge Park for free family photos – no reservations needed!
