“Women of Barrington” Event Held at Barrington’s White House

On March 15, Barrington’s White House, the Cultural Commission, and the Barrington Area Library hosted a “Women of Barrington” event in celebration of Women’s History Month.

The event recognized women who have volunteered their time and contributed financially to various Barrington-area organizations. Women from seven Barrington groups participated, including:

  • Barrington Area Library

  • Barrington Junior Women’s Club

  • Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce Women’s Biz Net

  • League of Women Voters

  • Saint Anne Women’s Club

  • Signal Hill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution

  • The Garden Club of Barrington

The event featured a panel discussion led by Peer Lykke, chair of the Cultural Commission’s history working group, and a brief presentation by Sam Oliver, who shared her experiences as a lifelong volunteer and Barrington resident.

Following the panel discussion, attendees visited exhibit tables from these organizations and the event wrapped up with a “Women in History” presentation by Martina Mathisen, a local educational entertainer.

Barrington’s White House continues its Women History Month of events on Thursday, March 27, 2025 with a Cocktails & Conversations: 250 Years of First Ladies Progress and Power. Learn more and get tickets HERE.
